The Brewers Association (BA) invites Export Development Program member breweries to participate in the 2024 Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival.

The Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival is one of Scandinavia’s largest trade and consumer shows, serving as a quality platform for promoting US beer already in-market alongside US breweries interested in the Swedish market.

2024 marks the 32nd anniversary of the event’s occurrence and the Brewers Association’s 20th appearance at the festival. Previous visits have resulted in new distribution and continued promotion of existing U.S. craft beer sold in Sweden’s retail monopoly, the local on-premise sector, and elsewhere in Scandinavia.

Brewers Association members are encouraged to watch the Collab Hour webinar, Selling Craft Beer in Sweden, hosted by representatives from Sweden’s government alcohol buyers. Sweden consistently ranks in the top five markets for American craft beer globally.

Event Timeline

  • Trade Mission Travel Application Deadline: July 15
  • Registration Deadline: July 22
  • Consolidation Deadline: August 2
  • 2024 Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival: September 5-7

Cost

The Brewers Association will cover the cost of consolidation, airfreight shipment to Sweden, customs clearance, entry fees for the festival’s beer competition, and fees associated with hosting an American craft beer booth at the event.

Beer Volume Requirements

The Brewers Association suggests sending two to three brands per brewery, up to three cases per brand, for this three-day festival.

Brewers Association Trade Mission Application

The Brewers Association will be hosting a trade mission to Sweden centered around the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival.  The trade mission will enable participating breweries to meet with importers, visit retail locations and HORECA accounts, attend media functions, and participate in other activities that promote American craft beer in the market.   This is an opportunity both for breweries that have beer in the market and breweries that are looking to enter Sweden.  Brewery representative presence enhances the impact of promoting American craft beer abroad and provides a valuable opportunity for brewery staff to better understand market opportunities.

The EDP has set aside a budget to offer travel assistance in the form of reimbursement for certain expenses for brewery representatives traveling to Stockholm as part of this BA mission. Participants will be expected to represent the BA and American craft beer industry generally, work the festival on behalf of the BA, and participate in other organized EDP activities.  Interested brewery staff are asked to complete the online application by July 15.  Review and selection of applications will take place on an ongoing basis and will be determined using criteria including the timing of application, number of applicants, and application alignment with the activity’s mission and goals.

Shipping for Consolidation

Beers for this event are due to the consolidation point by Aug 2. Cases received after that date are not guaranteed inclusion in shipment to Sweden.

Please label all cases “BA/Sweden” or print/affix this label.

Notice: The consolidation of samples for Sweden overlaps with the consolidation for competition entrants in the European Beer Star. EDP members may ship samples for both activities together, but each case box must be labeled accordingly to ensure samples are palletized accordingly.
