WA Low-Proof Beverage Bill Heard in Committee

Subject of a committee hearing, House Bill 1734 would impose a tax on the sale of low-proof beverages in the amount of $1.19 per gallon and defines such beverages as any beverage that is 16 ounces or less and that contains more than 0.5 percent alcohol by volume and less than seven percent alcohol by volume, but does not include wine, malt beverages, or malt liquor.
