The Brewers Association (BA) draught beer quality subcommittee has recently added two new members—Bridget Gauntner, Great Lakes Brewing Company and Dave Glor, New Belgium Brewing.

Bridgett Gauntner has worked with Great Lakes Brewing Company for five years. She started her career working as a lab technician in the quality control department. After two years, Bridgett was promoted to the newly created field quality analyst role. Based in Grand Rapids, Mich., Bridgett spends a couple of weeks per month in Great Lakes’ home market, Cleveland, Ohio, with the rest of her time spent in other markets.

Bridget-Gauntner“I became interested in field quality as I discovered that most people I knew who were not fans of draught beer were turned off because of bad experiences,” said Gauntner. “I began learning about all of the post-production culprits contributing to these bad experiences through draught classes at Siebel, Micromatic and reading the Brewers Association Draught Quality Manual. I’m very passionate about converting people into draught beer fans and educating partners on best practices.”

Dave Glor started brewing professionally at Flying Bison Brewery in his hometown of Buffalo, NY in 2003. Dave attended VLB’s Certified Brewmaster Course during 2004-05 and after graduating returned to New York State to continue his brewing career. Dave joined New Belgium Brewing as a field quality ranger in 2008. Currently based in Seattle, Wash., he helps manage New Belgium Field Quality in sixteen western states and two Canadian provinces.

Dave-Glor“If you’re not having fun working with beer, you’re doing something wrong,” said Glor. “Getting beer to fellow beer drinkers that tastes the way a brewery intends is part of the fun and feeling the pride of craft brewing”.

The BA draught beer quality subcommittees’ overriding mission is to improve the quality of draught beer dispensed to our customers. The subcommittee seeks to preserve the great flavor and aroma of beer created by the brewer, and to deliver it to the consumer at retail and is recognized as the definitive draught quality resource for the U.S. Members of the BA draught beer quality subcommittee are Bridget Gauntner, Rob Gerrity, David Glor, Ken Grossman, Jaime Jurado, Charles Kyle, John Mallett, Matt Meadows (Chair), MillerCoors colleagues (Jeff Bell, Todd Blondis, Peter J. Coors and Ernie Jimenez), David Lujan, David Munro, John Pinkerton, Kevin Reed, Jeff Schaefer, Ken Smith, Neil Witte and Brewers Association staff members Paul Gatza, Pete Johnson, Charlie Papazian, Bob Pease, Chuck Skypeck, Chris Swersey and Shane Woods.
