What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I’m the owner of Great Life Brewing Company [in Kingston, N.Y.]. Like many craft brewery owners, I staff each and every position in our little startup’except doing graphics work, because my five-year-old granddaughter is better at it than I am.

What’s new at Great Life?

Everything! We’re just getting started.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

For me, it’s designing and crafting a rich, delicious beer and seeing people’s eyes light up the first time they taste it.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

Aged cumin-gouda cheese and Great Life 1875 Milk Stout.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Finally learning how to be the best husband/father/grandfather for my family.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

At this moment, Founders Backwoods Bastard is knocking my socks off!

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

What? There’s time away from the brewery?

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

While vacationing in Denmark a few years back, my wife and I stumbled upon a Renaissance Faire at Esrum Kloster Abbey. We fell in love with their Esrum Kloster ale brewed with herbs and spices grown in the abbey garden.
