What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am the owner and head brewer at Chain O’Lakes Brewing Company [in McHenry, Ill.]. I got my start by homebrewing, attending courses at the Siebel Institute, volunteering at various breweries, and then diving in.

What’s new at Chain O’Lakes?

There is always something new from our small batch brewhouse on Fridays.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

The face time in the taproom with our beer enthusiasts.

Name a favorite food and beer pairing.

Cajun food with our Fox River Scotch Ale.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Leader of Marines for 30 years.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Sour beers.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Prague, due to the history and richness of its culture and beers.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Spend time with my wife, Linda, and daughters Sarah and Caroline.
