What’s your current position at your brewery, and how did you get started in the craft brewing industry?

I am the co-owner and brewmaster [of Fairport Brewing Co. in Fairport, N.Y.]. My partner and I were both homebrewers. We decided our town needed a brewery, so we opened one.

What’s new at Fairport Brewing?

Expanding capacity and improving quality at the brewery, and upgrading the skills and knowledge of our bar staff.

What’s the best part of being a part of the craft brewing community?

The openness and collegial attitudes of everyone.

What do you like to do in your time away from the brewery?

Bike racing and train travel.

What’s your favorite food and beer pairing?

Nut Brown Ale and BBQ.

What’s your biggest accomplishment unrelated to your job?

Paying my way through graduate school.

What’s your favorite beer that your brewery does not produce?

Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale.

What’s the most memorable travel destination at which you’ve had a chance to sample the local beer?

Burton-On-Trent.
