2012 Supplemental Stats Now in BAMO

Share Post

The Brewers Association publishes the statistics from the previous year for the craft brewing community in the May/June issue of The New Brewer. To supplement the data in the magazine, now available is a spreadsheet  in the Members Only area of this website that provides historical craft statistics over time and a couple different ways to look at state-level brewery counts and production. The spreadsheet is available to view or download as a member benefit.

The member request that spurred staff to develop the supplement was a desire for some members to have a spreadsheet that they could use to see the size of the individual craft brewers out there. There is a tab that lists barrelage by craft brewing company control group. A control group is a company that the U.S. Tax and Trade Bureau considers a single taxpaying unit.

Also note that full May/June statistical edition, as well as back issues including previous statistical issues back to 2009, are available in the Members Only area under the header The New Brewer Online. (We have a staff goal of loading back issues to 2000 this calendar year.)

As we grow in statistical sophistication with the onset of the work of Staff Economist Dr. Bart Watson in June we hope to offer more in this area in succeeding years. One area I would love to unlock is the ability to create an estimate of state-by-state craft brewed beer sales over time and provide that to membership for business planning purposes and to help support media requests for those data points.

For those who have a record in the Brewers Association database but have yet to create a profile needed to access the Members Only area, you can create your profile here: https://www.brewersassociation.org/recover-credentials/. To the right, click “create a profile.” Enter your first and last name, email address and “enter.”  Your record should pop up and click “this is me.”  Then you will create a username and password that will allow you access to the Members-Only area of the website.

For others in a member company who are not in our database yet but who desire access to the Members Only area, Ian, Jon or Craft Beer Tony in member services staff will need to create a record. They can be reached at info@brewersassociation.org.

Enjoy!
