Celebrate the worldwide holiday by brewing on May 7

What

Big Brew for National Homebrew Day, an annual event on the first Saturday in May, was established by the American Homebrewers Association® (AHA) in 1988 to celebrate the most delicious hobby there is–homebrewing! Homebrewers, craft beer fans, and DIYers are invited to connect with the fermentation-loving community to make and celebrate beer.

From those making their very first batch to seasoned brewers, all are welcomed to take the Big Brew Pledge and be a part of the global event. Those who make the pledge will receive a code for $5 towards an AHA annual membership. Learn how to brew or try new techniques with the AHA’s helpful online tutorials and resources. Order ingredients and supplies from homebrew supply shops and connect with the community of homebrewers by hosting or attending a Big Brew event.

The official Big Brew recipes for 2022 are Tha CommUNITY American Lager, provided by homebrewer April Dove who started a multi-brew initiative to offer a more diverse and inclusive taproom experience, and the Dark Inception Imperial Porter, contributed by Marcus Baskerville of San Antonio’s Weathered Souls Brewing Co., the leading force behind the Black Is Beautiful collaborative brewing project.

These homebrew recipes and thousands of others can be found online and feature techniques for beginners and experienced brewers alike. Get started with these helpful tips and videos, and order brewing ingredients from a local homebrew supply shop using the AHA directory of homebrew shops.
