Senator Blumenthal Visits Thomas Hooker Brewing Co., Discusses Small Brewer Tax Reduction

Small business expansion and job creation remain the goals of small brewer excise tax recalibration proposed in companion bills H.R. 1236 and S. 534.  Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, co-sponsor of S. 534, visited Thomas Hooker Brewing Company to discuss the benefits of this tax reduction.

Curt Cameron, the brewery's president, guided the Senator through all the stages of brewery production and discussed how excise tax reduction would allow the company to expand and in turn hire additional employees.

During the tour Senator Blumenthal acknowledged the important role that craft breweries play in Connecticut's economic future.  With 19 breweries and 16 in planning, Connecticut's economy and craft brewing industry could see tens of thousands of dollars of reinvestment.

Gaining the active support of lawmakers such as Senator Blumenthal is an important piece in the Brewers Association's efforts to pass the proposed legislation.  Learn more about the proposed excise tax reduction and other issues facing the craft brewing industry in the Government Affairs section of BrewersAssociation.org.
